FM Industries, Inc., a leading contract manufacturer of Precision Components and Assemblies for the Semiconductor Capital Equipment Industry, has an immediate opening for a Lead Mechanical Inspector to work in Phoenix, AZ.

DESCRIPTION:

Perform Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to specification. Ensure conformance to customer requirements through the use of calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection. Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Program and operate (CMMs)
Off-line CMM Programming
Perform surface plate setups
Provide inspection methods guidance to other inspectors
Review routers to ensure upstream processes have been completed and signed off
Ensure that downstream operations on routers are logical
Inspect first-off parts from manufacturing work centers
Collect measurement data for use in First Article Inspection Reports (FAIs)
Collect and provide data required for critical part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs)
Complete customer required part to print data forms and send with parts
Perform roving in-process inspection of parts being run in Manufacturing
Inspect in-house and out-sourced in-process production run parts
Complete Discrepant Material Report (DMR) forms for rejected parts
Inspect incoming purchased parts for compliance to specifications
Inspect outgoing material for packaging and conformance to requirements
Fill out and file required reports, logs, databases, forms and documents
Report safety or process control concerns to the Inspection Team Leader or Plant Quality Manager
Perform additional related duties as assigned
Good knowledge of GD&T
Knowledge of LK CAMIO 4.5 , Mitutoyo MCOSMOS 3.0 preferred, not required

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED; education and/or combination of experience
Minimum of five years of directly related work experience in a manufacturing environment
Visual inspection experience
Program DCC/ Manual Coordinate Measuring Machine.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide technical guidance to inspectors

Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including: calipers, micrometers , scales, surface tester, volt meter, thread gauges, microscope, eye loop, optical comparator, helium leak detector, hydrostatic tester, gauge pins, deltronic pins, gauge standards, joe blocks, profile molding, leveling plates, jack screws, feeler gauges.
