This position will be responsible for properly washing and storing all dishes, pots, pans, trays eating utensils, cups, and small equipment for the department as well as maintaining the dish room and dish machine in a sanitary and efficient manner. This individual will also assist in the preparation of food items and perform basic culinary tasks. The Steward must perform tasks that support the kitchen and front of the house staff as necessary. They are responsible for demonstrating a commitment to customer service standards in all interactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
Washes dirty dishes, pots, pans and other equipment
Stocks clean dishware, flatware, glassware, etc. as appropriate.
Performs basic culinary tasks such as slicing tomatoes, etc.
Maintains cleanliness of kitchen area.
Maintains storage of proper chemicals.
Cleans and polishes equipment as required.
Assists kitchen staff as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to focus on task and see it through to completion.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of training education and experience.
Experience working in a restaurant or bar is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Food safety awareness certification within 90 days of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Will be required to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and operate hand tools (may include operating industrial machinery). Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds frequently. Specific work assignments may change without notice. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The majority of work will be performed in a non-climate-controlled environment, will be exposed to severe inclement weather and varying degrees of extreme temperature. Will be exposed to various industrial chemicals, cleaning agents, etc. Will be exposed to strong odors, and loud noise levels.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS
Schedules will vary depending on business needs, and may entail working nights, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal departmental operating hours. All departments are open during major holiday periods.
