I just upgraded a spare computer to Windows 10, and learned how to avoid the pitfalls. Microsoft's own instructions are not very good. For instance, they make it look like you're supposed to enter the product key for your copy of Windows 7 or 8. That won't work. The time to activate a free copy is limited, but once it's activated, it's supposed to be good for the life of that computer. So you don't have to use Windows 10 right away, you just need to activate it soon. I've been able to swap hard drives back and forth and use both Windows 7 and Windows 10.What I'm offering to do is get your PC activated with Windows 10 and give you media for it (flash drive or DVD) so you can install it when you want. At that time, it will activate itself without you having to call Microsoft. I can also simply do the upgrade if you prefer. The price I'm asking is assuming you bring you computer to me, or I don't have to drive very far. (I'm just west of north Minneapolis, near 81 and 36th Ave. N.) Otherwise, the cost will be somewhat higher.I can also give you DVD's for any version of Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 for $5 each. You need to supply the licenses.
