Our client,an apparel group located in the Pittsburgh area isseeking an onsite freelance UX Designer for a4 -- 6 months project.
The UX Designer is responsible for providing a positive user experience by optimizing the information structure across all areas. The role will be responsible for developing navigation flows, site maps, wireframes, and interface design/functional specs. This role will liaise between the Creative, Technology, Merchandising and Content teams. Must be able to conduct, write and contribute to tasks and deliverables including task analysis, heuristic evaluation, rapid prototyping and development of use cases and business process flows.
The UX Designer will work closely with research and design teams to develop an accurate understanding of the target user base and what information they need in order to quickly learn and adopt the application or web site.
Defining user experience specifications for customers and stakeholder.
Perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses.
Translate, document and present research findings and recommendations to stakeholder.
Develop mockup / prototype interaction designs, including user interaction models, information architecture, wire frames and screen flows.
Work with usability team to conduct customer studies of mockups, prototypes and existing interfaces; and iterate designs based on results.
Perform validation usability testing to determine whether features and products have met business and customer objectives.
Knowledge of solving business and user problems with design. Ability to understand the needs of customers.
Extensive experience in methodologies for uncovering user needs and product opportunities. A background in ethnography and cognitive science methods is helpful.
Design fundamentals including information design, visual design, industry UI standards for eCommerce applications, and ease of use best practices.
Self-starter and accustomed to leading projects with little supervision.
Understanding of online information architecture and taxonomy standards
Prototyping software (Axure)
Wireframe software (Balsamiq)
eCommerce Content Management System a plus
Bachelor's degree - Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Information Design, Visual Design or related field; accelerated degree preferred
1-3 years experience in Interaction Designer, Information Design, HCI, User-Centered design or related field.
At least 3 years of experience in user interface design, information architecture, usability testing, human factors, and other related disciplines within a consultative or corporate environment preferably with an Internet Retailer Top 500 site.
Must have proven track record in concept development/layout, project development, project execution, UI design for consumer and e-commerce web sites.
