If you are looking to jump start your career in human services, Shelter House has a great opportunity! We are currently hiring part-time administrative assistant to work Monday-Friday from 12PM-5PM in a shelter setting providing support and assistance for those who are experiencing homelessness and assisting Shelter House with day-to-day operations. The position is approximately 25 hours/week. Ideal candidates will be those who have a positive/caring attitude, good organization skills, and the ability to handle a stressful environment.

Administrative Assistant key responsibilities:
Maintain and regulate the facility while on duty.
Assist clients in daily living functions.
Assist in client crisis intervention.
Document client compliance and non-compliance with the program requirements.
Communicate Shelter House policies with clients and the community, both over the phone and in-person.
Oversee drop-in hours, assisting the general public with drop-in services and supervising volunteers.
Process in-kind donations, making sure Shelter House is properly stocked with clothing and toiletries.
Miscellaneous agency duties.

Qualifications:
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work under pressure and cope with stressful situations.
Experience working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Personal attributes such as friendliness, tact, professionalism, commitment to self-improvement and development, enthusiasm, creativity, sensitivity, sense of humor, and honesty.
