Senior Auto Body Painter
Prepares and applies paint to repaired vehicles. Duties may include final sanding, masking, color mixing and tinting, spray booth operations, applying primers, sealers, color, and clear coats. May need to blend color into adjacent panels for a better color match to existing vehicle paint. Vehicles must be correctly prepared and refinished to insure proper adhesion, color match, and overall appearance. Delivers the highest quality body shop painting service without comebacks while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Auto Body Painters must communicate with clients, employers and other employees to plan and execute repair and painting jobs on a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, RV's, and buses. Auto Body Painters may be required to have knowledge of specialty painting techniques. Some auto body painters may need collision repair capabilities as well.
1. Per-Op & Paint planning:
Inspect quality of repairs received from Body Department.
Ensure safe movement of vehicle in, out, and through the department.
Preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs.
2. Vehicle Paint Execution:
Performs vehicle and parts painting process by mixing paints, matching colors, jamming, spray painting primer and finishing coats.
Performs work as assigned with efficiency, accuracy, and high quality following dealership insurance company, and enterprise standards.
Adheres to paint production schedule as designated by supervisor.
Contributes to maintaining acceptable cost per paint labor hour.
3. Team Engagement & Problem Solving:
Is an active and prepared participant in Monday morning staff meetings. Knows status of assigned vehicles and helps problem-solve on getting & keeping all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery.
Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff.
Maintains shop-owned tools and manuals in good working order and assumes accountability for those tools; returns all tools/manuals to their proper place after use.
Mentor Junior Auto Body Painters in the learning process and demonstrates best practices and quality painting techniques.
Participates in all training programs, certifications, schools, and events as made available.
4. Organized & Safe Workplace:
Ensures that work areas are clean, safe, and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored.
Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
Adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal. Follows vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters.
2+ years of practical experience in Body repair, replacement of parts and painting.
Valid and Clean Oregon Drivers' License
Must have own tools

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Able to lift and carry items weighing at least 50 Lbs., as well as functions in activities that require pulling, pushing, bending, standing for long periods of time, lifting and reaching.
Reaching above and below shoulder level
Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate equipment.
Maybe exposed to repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion.
Maybe required to inspect vehicles outdoors in inclement weather.
Visual acuity for color matching.
Maybe exposed to fumes, chemicals, high levels of dust and noise in repair center. Must be able to wear protective equipment.
Works with potentially hazardous materials so attention to safety and personal protection are essential.
