A Histology Lab Tech in this position performs H&E and IHC staining to qualify and inventory tissue blocks for entire company's uses. Routine duties include the use of microtome, embedding station,
and IHC tissue staining platforms. This position requires the ability to pay close attention to detail and organizational skills.
Performs microtomy of formalin fixed, paraffin wax embedded tissue blocks, H&E, and IHC staining, and troubleshoots
Receives and verifies tissue blocks for morphologic and immunohistochemical diagnosis
Coordinates the payment or return of unapproved tissue blocks to the supplier of the block
Evaluates and qualifies tissue blocks for use in Research and Development.
Keeps count and maintains tissue block inventory by maintaining records and updating spreadsheets
Performs all other techniques that may be utilized in a histology lab
Manufactures TMA and control slides for internal use in R&D
Maintains tissue block evaluation records and spreadsheets to facilitate communication within the company
Provides assistance in the manufacture of tissue control slides, as needed
Contacts suppliers and communicates with Sales and Customer Service associates to acquire tissue blocks
General daily, monthly and quarterly lab maintenance
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
An undergraduate degree in Biology or related field is required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience working in histology lab is preferred.
Experience in FDA regulated biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment is preferred.
Knowledge of IHC staining technique is preferred.
A CAP/ASCP or equivalent registered histotechnologist certification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Excel
