Veterinary clinic on Madison's East Side is looking for an energetic, personable individual to work as a Receptionist and Client Service Representative in our busy 3 doctor practice. The hours available for this position are evenings 4 days a week from 3pm-8:30pm and a rotating Saturday shift 7:30am-1:30pm for approximately 20-30 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a veterinary receptionist or veterinary assistant in the past five years. This is a professional position and is the first point of contact with clients and their pets in the clinic.
Duties include but are not limited to answering the phone, relaying messages to doctors and technicians, data entry, scheduling appointments, scheduling surgical procedures and boarding, collecting payments and processing payments for services. Applicants must have experience using Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and other basic office skills needed to process information and medical records. Applicants must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, have compassion and a positive attitude with a genuine interest in our clients and their pets. Excellent communication skills and working as a part of a team are essential to success in this position. Cleaning, keeping the reception desk area and lobby clean and odor free, taking out trash and recycling, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors among other duties is required daily.
Applicants must convey a confident, calm and empathetic demeanor and be able to work compassionately with clients in various emotional states. While not always being hands-on with animals, the applicant must be comfortable handling a variety of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs and other small mammal pets.
