This position will be responsible for performing the duties of both an Accountant II and Information Specialist at Hospice. The Accountant/Information Specialist is responsible for the following Accounting duties: the accurate preparation of financial data, in accordance with established procedures, State regulations, GAAP rules, and within the specified deadlines. Assists in the preparation of periodic financial reports and analyses for senior management including the Governing Board, government units, and year-end audit work papers. In addition, responsibilities include various complex analyses used to support financial statement preparation and operating budgets. This position has internal contacts with the entire organization and external contacts with various banks, vendors, contract personnel and auditors. The Accountant/Information Specialist is responsible for the following Information Specialist duties: data integrity, operation and routine software upgrades for the Hospice Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Specific responsibilities include maintaining regulatory compliance, efficient data extraction and technology expertise. This position identifies, interprets, applies and maintains all regulatory changes within existing information systems to ensure minimal impact on existing workflows and continual compliance. This position provides data extraction and basic analysis; this position collaborates with Skagit Regional Health departments to create and maintain effective interdepartmental relationships and supports Hospice by assisting with other Hospice functions as assigned.

Graduate of an accredited four (4) year college or university with course work in accounting, business administration or related field, verified with a copy of college transcript.

Certification in internal auditing (CIA) or Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHCA/CHA) is preferred.

Five (5) years experience in Accounting. Healthcare or Hospice experience preferred. Experience analyzing and interpreting financial databases is required. Experience with compliance with CMS Hospice regulations and conditions of participation preferred. Additional experience in auditing, billing, accounting, and/or information systems preferred.
