Georgia SPCA in Suwanee is looking to hire a full time Kennel Attendant at the adoption facility in Suwanee. Must have strong interest in animal welfare and must be available to work nights and weekends. Kennel Attendants are responsible for cleaning cages and kennels, feeding animals, and assisting customers who are interested in adopting a pet. Other duties may include washing dishes, doing laundry, walking dogs, and other tasks as assigned.
*Ability to stand for extended periods and to bend and reach to perform assigned work activities. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. without assistance.
*Ability to interact with impounded dogs, cats and other animals including vicious, stray, sick or injured animals. Ability to handle seeing and dealing with animals that have been abused, neglected or treated cruelly.
*Ability to learn/perform a variety of animal care related work activities.
*Must have reliable transportation.
*High school diploma or GED required.
Implements policies and practices that protect and promote the health and well-being of animals in SPCA care this includes infection control, sanitation, nutrition, exercise and other appropriate animal husbandry practices that are adopted and practiced according to industry standards, veterinary recommendations and the standards outlined in the GA SPCA Policies
and Procedures Manual.
Duties include making sure animals are properly housed, cleaned, exercised, groomed and fed, and that dishes, litter pans, kennels, toys, and bedding are properly cleaned and disinfected according to industry standards, veterinary recommendations and the standards outlined in the GA SPCA Policies and Procedures Manual.
Works with customers, including answering questions about animals of interest, the adoption process, fees and services provided, and the GA SPCA in general. Directs potential adopters to animals that may meet their criteria. Completes the adoption process through Pet Point for customers who decide to adopt.
Remains knowledgeable about most common signs and symptoms of illness and injury found in animal shelters and ensures that any signs of illnesses or injury are immediately reported to the Vet Technician.
Assists with transportation to and from off site events and or works events if needed.
Works to achieve adoption goals and other operational goals of the GA SPCA
Participates in job-related training as required.
Assists in, conducts or directs other tasks related to the day to day operations of the center as needed.

demonstrate respect for others and for the animals in our care. Conducts self in a professional manner that reflects well upon the organization.
