Ticia is available for adoption through Black Dog Animal Rescue in Cheyenne, WY.
Thanks for stopping to read more about Leticia, or Ticia for short. She's been part of the MOD Squad training at BDAR in order to improve her skills and she's come a really long ways and we are proud to say she is a graduate. Some of what she's been working on is that she can be a shy girl initially but once she feels safe she is a real sweetheart and very affectionate. Her shyness can present itself in her being a little unsure of new people, sometimes barking or shying away from them if they try pet her over the top of her head upon first approach. But with Mod Squad and her foster home working on it and she's warming up faster and faster to strangers each day. If you give her some time and treats her uncertainty goes away quickly, we think with continued exposure and practice this shyness can be a thing of her past. She clearly likes people and once she knows you are friend not foe she is very loyal and loving. We've also been taking Ticia to playgroups with many other dogs (and people) to encourage her to grow her dog (and people) social skills. She seems to get along best with male dogs but we are working on her meeting more female dogs and being appropriate rather than pushy. We've really seen her grow in this capacity as well. She was in the last playgroup with 8 other dogs and did really well with all of them even the females. Ticia gets along great with her playful dog foster brothers (2 of them) who are a bit on the wild side. She also got along fantastic with the female dogs she shares a home with so we are seeing her dog skills grow! Ticia is great in the house and knows her basic commands well. She is very obedient, smart, has wonderful recall and is easy going. She can sometimes bark at other dogs on leash but we are continuing to work on that skill and she does settle down with your verbal command asking her to stop and encouraging positive behaviors. We have found her capable of jumping a 6 foot fence so you may have to find other ways to keep her safe when you are not outside with her. Her foster home kennels her while they work. She enters on command and seems to enjoy her kennel as her safe place. Ticia has adjusted very well to the routine at her foster home and they would love to provide guidance and tips to anyone who may be interested in adopting this very sweet girl. She has proven to be a quick learner and she is very willing to please her people so she just needs a home willing to give her a little time to settle in. Please apply to meet her soon, she's on her way to mastering the rest of her skills and any home would be lucky to have her as part of their family!
She is a bit serious in her "professional" pictures so I also included a few with the other dogs she lives with. :)
Feel free to email me with more questions or go to www.bdar.org and look under the adoption tab to find the application. Her adoption fee is $150 but is 10% off for August. She comes up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, bordettela and parvo/distemper) spayed and microchiped.
