Organization Description: The African Community Education (ACE) Program is a non-profit community organization that was established to address the educational needs of African refugee and immigrant students now living and attending school in Worcester. The mission of ACE is to assist African refugee and immigrant youth and families in achieving educational and social stability through access to academic support, leadership development, cultural expression and community outreach in Worcester, MA.

After School Program Description: The After School Program provides academic support and extracurricular activities to 50 students in 5th-12th grade from 2:30 - 6:00pm Monday through Thursday. The program includes the following components: homework help with the assistance of volunteer tutors, enrichment activity sessions led by community organizations, leadership activity sessions, and recreational activities.

Job Description: The ACE After School Program (ASP) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of ACE's After School Program. This includes duties related to: Program Coordination & Development, On-Site Program Management, Human Resources and Team Management, Partnership Management, Monitoring & Evaluation and Administrative Support.

Program Coordination & Development:
1.Collaborate with ACE Outreach Department to enroll students into the program
2.Follow up with students and Outreach Department about attendance concerns
3.Complete appropriate paperwork in regards to student behavior and daily progress
4.Develop and implement Positive Behavior Incentives and Supports System for students
5.Purchase supplies and materials needed for program, in line with grant funds available
6.Coordinate weekly High School Leadership Activity, Middle School Leadership Activity and a Leadership Group.
7.Monitor student behavior and critical incident follow up
8.Oversee curriculum development to supplement student homework
9.Collaborate with the Worcester Public School Liaison and Commonwealth Corps member to develop and implement the ICAN Plans (student centered goal building and individualized support).

On-site Program Management:
1.Oversee the After School Program from 2:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, during the Worcester Public School Year
2.Ensure arrival of all volunteer activity facilitators
3.Work with the staff to provide an organized, safe and supportive environment where students can effectively complete their homework and gain life skills.
4.Provide resolutions to staff questions and concerns
5.Ensure space availability for the program within the building
6.Resolve student critical incidents (behavior, safety emergencies)
7.Manage late arrival and early dismissal of students.

Human Resources and Team Management:
1.Manage the After School Staff, ELL Facilitator and Leadership Facilitator. Track, monitor and evaluate their performance and conduct mid-year reviews.
2.Ensure adequate staff coverage during all program hours, identify substitute staff when necessary.
3.Ensure proper and timely completion of After School staff timesheets and payment as specified by Offer Letters. Sign off on and submit timesheets to Operations Director bi-weekly.
4.Facilitate bi-weekly staff trainings and meetings to provide ongoing evaluation and implement improvements in programs.
5.Supervise the Commonwealth Corps Member in developing and collecting educational resources based on student needs

Partnership Management:
1.Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to support volunteers.
2.Liaise and maintain relationship with the School and Building Authorities.
3.Coordinate with WPS Nutrition Department to provide snacks for the program
4.Schedule facilitators from community organizations to lead activity sessions

Monitoring and Evaluation:
1.Administer and compile evaluation tools as outlined in grants and as requested by Program Director.
2.Manage Community Development Block Grant reporting- time spent on homework, time and effort logs, leadership surveys, income self-reports.
3.Monitor student attendance, time spent on homework, behavior concerns and understanding of leadership topics through pre and post surveys

Administrative Support:
1.Participate in bi-weekly Administration Meetings with other full-time staff to identify, discuss and resolve administrative issues.
2.Handle back-office work, answering phone calls, queries about ACE's programs.
3.Attend Program Planning Meeting every two weeks to make decisions around program logistics and activities that impact multiple programs.
4.Attend weekly Tuesday team meeting.
5.Attend program retreat one weekend a year.

Required Qualifications:
1.Bachelor's degree in related field.
2.At least 3 years of experience working with youth
3.At least 2 years of experience in supervisor or management role
4.At least 1 year of experience coordinating tutoring programs and/or youth group activities
5.Experience working in multicultural setting
6.Creativity with activity planning
7.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
8.Strong organizational skills
9.Ability to work in fast-paced, community-centered office setting
10.Ability to take initiative in completing duties and work collaboratively with other team members
11.Computer Proficiency; experience with MS Excel and data management
12.Commitment to ACE's mission and social justice.

Desired Qualifications:
1.Experience teaching English Language Learners
2.Familiarity with African cultures
4.Experience working with refugee population
5.Master's degree in related field
6.CPR and first aid certification

Salary: Full time, approximately $33,000/year
Anticipated Start Date: September 14, 2015. Program runs from September 2015 through June 2016
Work Day: Monday through Fridays, must be present during After School Program hours (Monday through Thursday 2:30pm -- 6:00pm)
