Job Title: Transportation Manager (Western Region)
Location: Royal Oaks, CA
Reports To: Patrick Conlon, WR Logistics Manager
Date of Opening: Immediate
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt
Direct the activity of transportation of mushrooms and all other goods shipped out of multiple farms. Oversee the acquiring of backhauls and LTL freight on company fleet and/or outside carrier. Direct all activities of fleet, including hiring, training, scheduling, corrective actions, and DOT regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively manage projects from start to finish.
Project management experience will be key in this roll.
Daily, weekly, and monthly reports for distribution.
The ability to run an efficient department while improving production and reducing transportation expenses.
Ensure DOT and other regulatory compliance.
Review routing and back hauls. Make the necessary adjustments to ensure optimal efficiency & utilization.
Conduct introductory and annual performance reviews.
Assure safety awareness and compliance practices are adhered to in the department.
Closely monitor driver performance using multiple methods to include reports and other control features.
Resolve/investigate employee and customer concerns.
Plan and schedule assignment of work for transportation personnel.
Be available on-call nights, weekends and holidays.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
All Western Region DOT Drivers
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Knowledge of current D.O.T. regulatory requirements for inter and intra-state trucking including all required record keeping.
Knowledge of load consolidation and routing.
Must have minimum 3 years experience with D.O.T. regulatory requirements and truck scheduling. Must have minimum 3 -- 5 years management and distribution/transportation experience managing drivers and dispatchers.
Prior customer's service experience required.
Team building skills: Must be able to foster intra and inter-department teamwork within the facility.
Communication skills: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Must have advance/intermediate experience with, Excel, Word, Power-Point (Microsoft Office).
