The Young Leaders Academy (YLA) is primarily designed to provide its inner-city, minority youth between the ages of 7-10 a chance to strengthen and nurture their academic skills. The YLA's "Mission Statement" is to nurture the development of leadership abilities and life skills of inner-city, minority youth, empowering them to improve the quality of their life and assist them in becoming productive citizens. The Leadership Coaches provide homework assistance, mentoring and assist Site Coordinators in facilitating group leadership sessions.
This is a seasonal part-time, non-exempt position.
Provides homework assistance and monitoring in the YLA.
Checks weekly progress reports
Prepares afternoon snacks for members
Available for all fieldtrips- 1 trip a month

Two (2) years experience working with youth in Urban communities
Must possess good communication skills
Must possess organization and planning skills
Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record
Must be 18 years old or older
Must pass a background check
Fluent in Spanish a plus but not mandatory

The effectiveness of the Leadership Specialist performance will be measured by:
Communication with YLA staff and members
Knowledge of the YLA Mission
