Founded by Emily Best, our growing team is gender-balanced (currently six women + four men). We're all passionate about filmmaking, but our backgrounds are diverse. That's part of our team's strength.

Job Description

We're looking for a backend developer to implement systems which will help understand and quantify site usage, user growth, and the success of our marketing initiatives. Our ideal candidate loves data and has experience implementing both tracking and reporting systems. We use MySQL and Elasticsearch as our primary data stores, and PHP is our primary backend language, but you're welcome to use any tools you prefer to compile reports and analyze data sets.

Skills & Requirements

Are you still reading? Awesome! You might be a perfect fit for this position if...You have intermediate to expert knowledge of Google's Analytics and Adwords products, as well as at least an intermediate understanding of their underlying APIs. You get really excited when you're asked to generate a custom report in Analytics or pull historical keyword performance data from the Adwords API.You have a deep understanding of Events, Goals, and Funnels as they pertain to Google Analytics, and you know how to implement them in source code. When your significant other asks for a funnel in the kitchen, sometimes you accidentally run to your laptop and log into Analytics.You know and love SQL, specifically MySQL. You can write complex queries to aggregate data and generate reports from tables filled with server-side events. You know the difference between an inner join an an outer join.You have experience querying an Elasticsearch data store to compile reports. You know the difference between a query and a filter, and you have experience distilling succinct reports from large Elasticsearch instances.You have an intermediate to expert level knowledge of PHP, specifically Object-Oriented PHP. You love managing dependencies with Composer, and you're excited about PHP's future. You get super extra awesome bonus points if you love or have worked with Laravel.You have some knowledge of a statistical programming language, such as R, or library, such as numpy. When you have clean CSV in your possession, you can't wait to import it into one of these tools to analyze it.You have some experience with A/B and multivariate testing. You can set up experiments using a tool like optimizely, and you know how to interpret the outcome.You can multitask and wear different hats.
