Our Des Moines Client is looking for a Petroleum Build Mechanic

Purpose/Description
Responsible for the installation, fabrication and assembly of fluid delivery systems in various compartments of a petroleum tank and chassis/trailer.

Education and Experience
?High school diploma or equivalent
?Long-term on-the-job training of repairing diesel/gasoline chassis equipment, fabrication and build experience on farm equipment, cars or trucks.

Knowledge
?Knowledge of machines and tools, uses, repair, and maintenance.
?Basic knowledge of engineering of fluid flow and pressure systems
?Safety- Knowledge of working in an environment with safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The basic responsibilities of the Truck Mechanic includes, but not limited to the following.
?Follow and abide completely the Safety Manual
?Reads job order and comply with all elements of job description.
?Install various components of a fluid delivery system
?Follow US DOT regulations in regard to petroleum tanks/trailers
?Operate cutting torch and gas welding equipment.
?Operate shop tools: i.e., power drill, power saw and related power tools. Operate air tools, impact guns and related air tools.
?Welding of components necessary for building or repair of equipment and/or fabrication of components/parts necessary for building or repair of equipment.

Skills
?Take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.
?Apply knowledge of mechanical functioning of various components on the equipment, and make necessary repairs related to the equipment as these problems occur.
?Perform these jobs on an individual basis as well as being able to work with others in group situations.
?Work on various equipment in varying positions, either crawling under and/or laying on their back on top of or on a wheeled unit for various lengths of time. Work with wrenches and/or tools as described earlier in all of the above circumstances. Do various jobs utilizing proper body mechanics.
?Perform the jobs required to build or repair equipment according to US DOT regulations and specifications.
?Comply with all company safety related rules. Work with safety related equipment to perform your duties.
?Always make sure that the equipment being worked on is made safe for oneself and other employees before performing any work related tasks.
Ability to understand written instructions and/or problems written up concerning necessary builds or repairs required for various equipment malfunctions.

?Must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally (5 times per day) and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently (50 times per day) and up to 25 lbs. of force on a regular basis through the day, depending on work related circumstances.
?Must be able to lift objects from floor to above shoulder level and be able to lift from lying position on back overhead. Must be able to move objects/parts/tools and equipment from one area to another and one level to another level.

Salary: 50K to 62k
