We have a great career opportunity at the Holiday Inn & Suites of Hattiesburg for a motivated team player looking to join our winning team as a Catering Sales Coordinator. The Catering Sales Coordinator is responsible for the sales of catering events within the social, group, corporate, and wedding markets. Additionally this position, will coordinate all aspects of group programs, acting as the principle group contact from start to finish of each program, to ensure complete customer satisfaction.This person will also be responsible for handling all administrative responsibilities for the sales office.

The areas of concentration for this position are social and mid-level corporate. Strong written and/or verbal communication skills are required with a proven track record of developing strong guest/client relationships. We are seeking an individual dedicated to providing excellent service and a product of high quality and value. Applicants must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as high service standards.
Respond to prospective clients in a timely manner and sell to all Internet leads, telephone and walk-in inquiries.
Achieve monthly sales goals and accurately forecast all Catering bookings.
Ensure orderly and accurate catering sales files and computerization of such files are maintained. Candidates must be able to execute contracts in compliance with all checklists, standards and hotel policies.
Prepare catering contracts, proposals and event orders, and follow-up on all function details with support departments.
Participate in local industry networking organizations on a regular basis.
Work independently and also as a team member.
Self-motivated and goal and detail-oriented.
Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Possess strong interest in selling and adaptability to work hours, as required.

Requirements:
A minimum of two years prior group and or local catering management experience required, with strong Sales and negotiating skills needed.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word & Excel).
Previous experience in Opera (or other sales management databases).
Expertise in food and beverage knowledge in menu planning.
Local candidates preferred.
Applicants must be knowledgeable in all areas of banquet and event etiquette, guest relations and service standards and provide courteous and helpful service to guests at all times. Key assets include the ability to handle multiple customer and operational demands with a high degree of professionalism, operating often with time sensitive deadlines. Candidates must work well in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure during busy times and should be willing to work a flexible schedule with some weekends required.
