Summary The purpose of this position is to perform oil changes and minor repairs/maintenance and to lubricate moving parts of customer vehicles. Employee is responsible for outstanding customer service and promoting customer satisfaction by ensuring that vehicles are fixed right the first time.
Essential Duties include the following:
Performs oil changes and checks other fluid levels while inspecting for leaks or needed repairs. Informs Service Advisor of any recommended repair/maintenance work to be completed.
Performs vehicle maintenance and minor repairs, including but not limited to changing tires, and changing bulbs.
Works at a steady pace while maintaining quality and consistency.
Follows manufacturer's guidelines and processes to comply with manufacturer maintenance standards.
Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts. Saves and tags any parts under warranty or if requested by customer.
Operates tools and other shop equipment to enable consistent and accurate diagnosis and maintenance of vehicles serviced. Operates all tools and equipment in a proper and safe manner.
Keeps open communication with management regarding all aspects of customer maintenance/repair process and reports any safety issues immediately.
Understands and stays current with all federal, state, and local regulations related to vehicle maintenance.
Completes test drives and operates all vehicles in accordance with applicable state motor vehicle laws.
Assists in training other employees to perform Quick Lube Technician duties.
Follows safety guidelines and procedures as determined by manufacturer and company policy.
Ensures customer cars are kept clean. Notifies Service Advisor immediately of any change in appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Maintains clean and safe work area. Performs general cleaning duties and shop maintenance/repairs to ensure appropriate shop upkeep.
Maintains accountability for all dealership-owned tools and manuals; returns them to the proper place and in same condition as they were received.
Participates in team meetings by providing input and suggestions for improvement.
Completes training courses assigned by supervisor.
Marginal Duties, which may vary depending on the dealership, include the following:
Assists technicians and other departments when needed, including washing cars, vehicle repairs, etc.
Works alongside Technicians to learn how to perform more-complex vehicle maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, periodicals and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine repair orders and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers or other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Reasoning Skills Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Abilities While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and use hands to finger, handle or feel more than 2/3 of the time. The employee may also be required to sit, climb or balance. Employee is regularly required (more than 2/3 of time) to lift or move up to 25lbs, and, depending on the repair, may occasionally lift or move up to or over 100 pounds. Close, distance, color and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus are all required in order to read wiring schematics, manuals, search on the internet, and work with intricate parts and mechanicals. This position also requires driving and the ability to operate all vehicles produced by the manufacturer, with manual and/or automatic transmissions. Ability to operate other repair equipment, such as specialized shop tools and diagnostic equipment is also required.
Work Environment Work is performed in a garage or shop environment with exposure to loud to very loud noise. Room temperature may vary from dealership to dealership and with weather, as shop may/may not have air conditioning. Less than 1/3 of the time is spent in outdoor weather conditions as employee is required to gather parts and test drive vehicles. More than 2/3 of job duties require working with/near moving mechanical parts and exposure to vibration from tools used. Position requires working near extreme heat from vehicle engines and equipment. There is also potential exposure to chemicals or fumes and the risk of electrical shock from vehicles and use of equipment. Work may require use of protective face and eyewear, safety shoes, ear plugs, respiratory protection, head protection, and/or protective gloves.
