From my research, I understand that the production date for this lantern was no earlier than 1956, since that is when Dietz established a factory in Hong Kong. The embossing of patent and production dates onto Dietz lanterns was abandoned in 1956, coinciding with the establishment of the Hong Kong factory. "Made in Hong Kong" is embossed on the bottom of the red Dietz lantern that I am selling.

This lantern is approximately 8-3/4 inches tall, and 5-1/2 inches across at its widest point. The bottom of the lantern is 4-1/4 inches across. It is 12 inches tall with the handle raised.

This lantern is in very good vintage condition with some wear. There is some surface rust and some flaking of the red paint, primarily on the top of the lantern, which is a bit sloped on one side but still lifts well to release the globe.

The clear globe, embossed DIETZ, is intact with no chips or cracks and is very clean.

The reservoir is quite clean, the cap (marked DIETZ) works/turns and tightens, the wick is in good shape, and the wick adjustment knob works. I have not tested this lantern to see if it is in working condition. I decided to sell it in the same condition in which I purchased it.

This red lantern is simply a great looking piece. It would be a very nice addition to your lantern collection or for home dcor purposes.
