Summary of position:
40 hours per week Grant Writer/Development Assistant position working in rigorous CAMPAIGN STYLE leadership nonviolence effort. Requires comfort with coaching approach to relationships, personal transformation and social justice. Position assists in outreach to corporate and foundation funders, grant writing, letter writing, meeting scheduling, attendance at funding meetings, and carrying out follow-up. Responsible for creating strong ties that fortify our capacity to generate revenue for programming work.
Required Skill and Qualifications:
Minimum of two years' experience in grant writing and or non-profit fundraising, and a BA or BA equivalent in related field. Must have desire to work in campaign approach to community organizing and direct communication experience. Strong writing, reading, and communication skills. Experience in grant writing and grant research and or cultivation of relations with non-profit donors required. Knowledge of database (Salesforce preferred), and corporate and business community protocols. Ability to work with a team. Willingness to practice principles of nonviolence as expressed through a commitment to the transformation of public education, building community, creating peace, strengthening democracy and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities of the Job:
Participation in agency Government and External Relations, carrying out relations with funders, supporters, elected officials and other community stake-holders.
Research foundation, corporate and government donors.
Analysis and strategy with approaches to donors.
Phone calling, meeting scheduling and staffing.
Staff the Director of Government and External Relations in work relating to development of corporate, foundation and individual supporters and funders.
Tracking system (calendaring and roster) for funding sources, deadlines, reporting and meetings.
Assist in managing timelines and deadlines for eligible foundation, corporate or other potential funding sources.
Oversight of agency database: software use, updates, expansion and QB interface.
Goal setting for agency database: fund development, elected officials, community groups, faith based and organization system for all lists.
Interface between lists and Constant Contact, coordinating with other staff for regular communication with others (define, goal set, and implement).
Carry out mapping of key sectors and stakeholders, seeking lists and contacts, research educational conferences.
Initiate weekly work plan and carryout out evaluations for self-change conduct.
Study and practice the principles of nonviolence so that one's own transformation and change is the basis for working with others.
Other tasks as assigned.
