Even though birds are sensitive animals, they still need routine vet care and need to have their lives enriched so they live healthy and long lives.

In the Humane Bird Handling & Enrichment seminar YOU will learn:
-Body language
-What is behavior/ABCs
-Labels/constructs
-Training - positive reinforcement vs. force
-Working with "untamed" birds
-Working with behavior problems - screaming, biting, feather damaging
-Managing medical treatment/husbandry - medical problems have always been a behavioral component
-Target training/clicker training
-Enrichment/foraging

Your BIRD will learn:
-To accept handling without restraint
-To offer his/her nails for trimming
-To allow you to handle him/her and on a scale

Melody Hennigh is a registered veterinary technician, working at the Medical Center for Birds in Oakley, California. She graduated from Western Career College in 2008, where she completed the veterinary technician program. Melody has presented at conferences for the Association of Avian Veterinarians on teaching our feathered friends how to participate in their own medical treatment, as well as reduced-stress handling, restraint, and medicating techniques for the veterinary hospital setting. She has recently started training classes for companion parrots to help teach pet owners and their birds how to communicate, and live enriched and stress-free lives together.
Pre-registration is required and if you register before August 31st, you will be the "early bird who gets the worm" (see details below)!
