Director of Development / Gulfport
This position is for a Marketing and Development Director with a community development agency location in Gulfport, MS. Will oversee all marketing aspects for the Company well as support the Company's strategic objectives through creating new opportunities, identifying funding sources, developing concept papers and grant submissions and forging relationships with donors and partner organizations. Duties and Responsibilities include: Management of website, social media, advertising, Constant Contact, press relations, marketing materials, public speaking and related activities; Develop annual marketing and promotions plan for the agency, individual programs, Caf Climb, and the Event Centre. Utilize DEBRA management by objectives system in developing the core plan and supplement it with detailed activity schedules as needed; Review and update all marketing materials; Promote agency events, including Workforce Training Institute Graduation, promotional events at the Caf and the annual Ports of Call Festival [fundraising event]; Implement the plan according to a detailed week-by-week schedule that is updated continuously; Prepare proposals assigned by the CEO that are recurring or can be completed in several days; Identify additional funding sources for all strategic objectives; Turn previously developed concept papers into submissions on a regular basis; Develop new concept papers and proposals as development opportunities or agency needs arise, including those to public and private foundations, local, state and federal donors; Forge relationships with new and expanded donors and partner organizations in Gulfport and nationally; Find the right opportunity/partners for building housing developments; Implement outreach-development and marketing meetings monthly; Arrange meetings with potential donors and partners, presenting Climb CDC programs to community civic clubs and organizations; Explore possibilities to develop community health programs by researching existing opportunities and gaps in health and mental health programs in MS and seeking out funding for addressing these gaps; Research and meet with local advocacy and lobby groups working with the local, State and Federal Government to educate legislators about our agency, ensuring we are positioned to receive funds if so appropriated; Assist in the development of a micro-enterprise program by securing rotating loan funds, program operating funds and an open market retail venue for micro-enterprise clients and collaborating with the city of Gulfport for market space and support; Develop strategies and proposals to acquire funds from previous and new donors across Climb CDC initiatives: housing counseling, mental health, neighborhood stabilization and community building, workforce training, economic development and youth programs; Prepare a detailed marketing plan for a Long Term Recovery Manual, identifying potential sources of demand for the manual and articulating a strategy for advertising, public relations, branding and marketing the manual; Prepare a detailed marketing plan for the Company and its programs, identifying potential sources of demand for the agency and articulating a strategy for advertising, public relations, branding and marketing the Company; Create a map of partners for disaster relief, including a component in communicating how partners can effectively utilize the Company Long Term Recovery Program; Create a matrix of funding sources and priorities by researching funding opportunities through internet search engines and field level intelligence (previous and possible donors / partners); Submit all reports and updates as determined by CEO; Other duties as assigned. Requirements and Qualifications include: Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Non-profit management or other related field; 5+ years experience in Marketing/Development; Knowledge and experience in the creation, development, and maintenance of websites and social media; Experience in resource development, proposal writing, grant research, donor relations, technical and creative writing, preferably in the non-profit sector; Knowledge of fundraising and research sources and techniques; Strong written communication and editing skills with the ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals; Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; Excellent PC proficiency in internet usage, Microsoft Office, Constant Contact and social media; Excellent public speaking, listening, and presentation skills; Knowledge of human service, health, court, and criminal justice systems programs, regulations, and procedures, and alternative programs.
