Seeking a Computer Operator for a one year contract opportunity with a large pharmaceutical company in Pittsburgh, PA (Robinson Township, PA).

Position and Purpose

The Computer Operator reports to the operations Shift Lead and the Operations Team Lead/Manager. The Computer Operator is responsible for overall computer operations and meeting production batch schedule SLA's.

Problems and Challenges:

The operator must ensure that operational environments are running at peak efficiency, complete production batch schedules, and take all necessary measures to meet specified availability and performance service levels.

Principal Activities/Responsibilities:

oMonitor the operation of all operating system platforms running in the data center with limited direct supervision. This may include an IPL of one of the AS400 systems using the operations master console and following documented procedures.
oMonitor with limited supervision the batch flow of all scheduling systems in the data center to ensure their respected job schedule is completed within the processing window.
oMonitor and respond to a variety of alerts/alarms related to the building infrastructure and Optical Network systems.
oFollow standard escalation procedures for problem tracking and resolution.
oUse a variety of software tools to support Data Center Operations such as capacity management, asset management, access management, team documentation.
oContact vendor service personnel when hardware failure demands immediate action.
oReact quickly when critical batch schedules fall behind or experience problems. Failure to react can quickly result in lost or delayed orders, ultimately impacting that day's revenue.
oInteract with support personnel on problem resolution.
oPerform Intel based server reboots for node down condition.
oDocument new and updated operating procedures in the proper repository.
oAdhere to all IT policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, quality, and financial goals.
oInform Shift Lead of problems encountered during shift. Document in the daily journal and verbally turn over to next shift any issues or problems that may have occurred.
oRecommend and implement process/procedure improvements that will increase efficiency or improve consistency of services.
oThe operator will support Disaster Recovery procedures and testing schedules.

Must have skills

oAS400 OS, plus the ROBOT scheduling System (strong).
oPC working knowledge
oStrong communication skills (telephone, conference calls)

Nice to have skills:
oInstallation knowledge of Intel based machine OS and related patches
oBasic Unix/Linux skills
oMicrosoft Office: Basic Excel, MS Word, and Powerpoint
oMicrosoft outlook, lync, OneNote
oHP Service Manager

General Expectations:
oAbility to work in a 24x7x365 environment --work holidays
oAbility to work alone unsupervised.
oOccasional overtime and shift work is expected to fill in for vacations/sick time

oTuesday midnight -- 8:30am Wednesday through Saturday midnight - 8:30 am Sunday (5 day, 8.5 hr/day schedule that includes half hour lunch break). (for the first few weeks during orientation and training, the candidate will be expected to work M-F 8 am -- 4:30 pm)
