Responsible for tutoring youth in grades Kindergarten through High School in various subjects as well as monitoring students' daily reading assignments.

Tutor youth in a variety of subjects including, math, science, history and reading.
Assist in the management of the learning environment, helping to keep noise level to a minimum and students engaged in the Center's activities.
Keep children on task, check that all homework is complete and correct, consulting with the Education Coordinator regarding students who are not meeting this expectation.
Help with room clean up.
Monitor children in hallways, classrooms and computer lab.
Assist and/or lead troop programs once a week (Mondays). Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, or TSA Girl Guards and Sunbeams.

Experience working with children in an educational environment.
Tutoring experience strongly recommended.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Understanding and appreciation of children.
An understanding and acceptance of the Salvation Army's mission, philosophy, and practices.
Possession of a current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificate card strongly recommended.
Experience with "at-risk" youth a plus.
Valid WA drivers license preferred. CDL a HUGE plus!
Bi-Lingual helps.

12-15 hour per week. Mon - Thurs. Between the hours of 2:00 - 6:00 PM. Some days may include an early start time (12:00 PM) or late ending time (7:00 PM) The Homework Center schedule will mirror the Seattle School District Calendar.
