The concrete finisher is responsible for placing, finishing, protecting and repairing concrete. Concrete finishers are often responsible for setting the concrete forms and ensuring they have the correct depth and pitch
Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, with hand held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete.
Finishes concrete surfaces, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
Molds expansion joints and edges.
Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
Produces rough concrete surface with broom.
Mixes cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.
Able to set up Screed, Bidwell and other equipment to specifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal communication and team work skills are necessary as proper completion of an assigned job and working safe will be highly dependent upon this ability.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, including manuals.
Knowledge of workplace safety requirement and procedures.
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Education, Training and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
While performing the duties of this Job, the Concrete Finisher is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The Concrete Finisher is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The Concrete Finisher is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The Concrete Finisher must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ascending and descending ladders or stairs is required, and movement on uneven terrain is occasionally required to carry out essential duties. Occasional driving of a vehicle is required.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment.
