Production Assistant / Prep Cook for The Chow Brothers

We are looking for qualified candidates who are interested in learning about operating under an FDA controlled process, California Processed Foods Registration and Cannery License! This position is an amazing opportunity to learn more about starting your own food products company and make some extra cash.

Help us prepare, pack, and can our pickled products and beverages using organic and local ingredients! We source produce directly from farmers as much as possible and use 100% natural ingredients. This position ensures that daily prep tasks and production are punctual, high quality, and safe from a sanitary perspective. The Prep Cook also ensures equipment, service, and workspaces are clean, organized and well maintained. Working in an open kitchen environment, the prep cook must consistently exhibit strong knife skills, time management, friendly and teamwork based attitude, and attention to detail.

We will be producing our food products out of KitchenTown in San Mateo, a beautiful 10,000 square foot shared commercial kitchen space on the tentative schedule listed below. The ideal candidate will either be ServSafe certified (Manager or Food Handler) or will have to take a short test online before they can work.

Job Duties:
Passionate about food and cooking, and learning about the packaged, processed, and canned food industries
Assist in the staging, prep cooking, packaging, and clean up of production runs
Maintains internal cleanliness of all food prep areas.
Sets up, cleans and breaks down work stations (including equipment and dishes)
Performs opening and closing duties.
Operates kitchen equipment such as, but not limited to, electric mixers, slicers, grinders, ovens, stoves, and burners
Utilizes kitchenware such as, but not limited to knives, spatulas, whisks, tongs, spoons, and ladles.

Skills and Qualifications
Relevant experience will be considered.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required with schedule flexibility determined by needs.

Working Conditions
This position will spend 100% of the time standing and working.
Behaves professionally and can be flexible in a changing environment.
Must easily be able to lift 20+ pounds, and handle these items repeatedly throughout the day

SCHEDULE: 4p-12am: Aug 24, sep 7, 21 6a-2pm: aug 28 3p-11pm: Aug 25, sep 1, 8, 18, 22 9a-7pm: sep 5, 6, 19, 20
