So, here we have a Madeira which was a division of Guild (like Sigma for Martin or Epiphone for Gibson) made to Guild design and build specs. I am not positive if this was made in Korea or Japan but on the neck block inside the soundhole there is a letter K above the serial # so I'm assuming that is for Korea and that is how I listed this guitar. I'm not sure of the year of build but I would suspect sometime in the 1980's.
I had a decision to make to either keep this Madeira and sell my Guild F 40 maple or sell it and use the proceeds towards refinishing my Guild F 40. They are both really nice guitars but I opted to keep my Guild and spend the money to refinish the F 40.
This Madeira is in excellent plus condition. No cracks, breaks or separations of any kind. It has a solid spruce top and beautiful maple back and sides. The neck angle is excellent with no need for a neck reset and the frets show very light wear. The Low E string height at the 12th fret is about 2/16" with plenty of saddle height (I don't believe it's ever been touched) to lower the action further if you so wish but it plays really well right now. It is very light and is very comfortable to play.
I bought this guitar caseless but I will include a Martin Thermal-plastic HSC that fits the guitar like a glove. The case shows plenty of wear (as you can see in the pics) but all latches work as does the handle. It protects the guitar well.
Feel free to call to discuss. I don't answer texts (blame it on the scum bag scammers)
