Domestic Violence Services Department of The Community Action Program is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician.
Qualifications: Vocational Certificate in commercial building maintenance plus 1 year related experience OR a High School diploma/GED and 3 years experience working in a Residential or Commercial apartment or housing facility. Ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of local housing code regulations; safety procedures; general maintenance skills including plumbing/heating/AC systems; minor carpentry & electric skills; ability to use basic hand and electrical tools; ability to climb ladders and not be afraid of heights; ability to do physical lifting (50+lbs); attention to detail; set schedules and adhere to same. Must be motivated; able to work independently and have excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to work in a diverse population with different socio-economic background and the ability to work with multiple vendors and contractors. The candidate must also have basic understanding of Domestic Violence. Must be patient and have the ability to remain calm under stressful situations. Individual must be organized, energetic and flexible; ability to obtain Federal and PA Criminal Background Checks and PA Child Abuse Clearance. Must complete agency sponsored 45 hour Domestic Violence training program within six months of employment. Must have a valid PA driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle is required.
The position is Part-time/16 hours weekly/$12.00 - $14.00 an hour depending on experience. this position does not include benefits, however, there is the opportunity to contribute pre-tax to the retirement plan.
