Premier Logistics & Distribution provider of five (5) Western States headquartered in Sacramento looking for a seasoned Operations Manager
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions: Oversees the Daily Operations of 5 Route Managers. (12 drivers each) Oversees Fleet and Customer Service while coordinating with HR/Safety. Responsible for accuracy, service, efficiency and profitability of delivery operations and routes
Is a fierce competitor, leader and motivator. Ensures that all Managers understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives. Coordinates with HR/Safety during interviews and assists in hiring all associates up to supervisor level. Encourages engagement by expressing pride in the group when goals are met and recognizes and rewards associates for their achievements. Develops direct reports through training and leadership planning.
Interacts daily with customers, contractors and personnel to ensure they understand existing and emerging customer needs, Utilizes teams to identify operational improvements in areas such as route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, trailer loading, inventory accuracy and warehouse operations. Collaborate with all B&G sites to share best practices, service leverage resources/assets, etc.
Under CFO and cost accounting assists to exceed the Business Plan targets. Identifies issues with the operating metrics and P&L and responds accordingly, Ensure payables and intercompany charges are valid and correct, and all other activities are accurately reflected in the P&L.
Works directly with HR/Safety supervisor to monitor and improve accident frequency and trending areas. Ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities, as well as the group's role and responsibilities required to achieve and maintain a safe work place. Coaches' management to proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, work processes, and behaviors. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
Growth / Customer Experience:
Under the direction of the customer service department oversee the process to track and record value delivered to the customer. Identify and seize profitable business opportunities, Utilize available metrics to monitor and maximize customer efficiencies and achieve cost savings.
Monitor with direction of the Fleet Manager the improvements to fleet/equipment utilization and fuel efficiency. Contribute to equipment specification at time of start-up and renewal, Build a strong working relationship with local equipment vendors.
Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; Web based programs, excellent verbal and written communication skills; sound judgment and problem solving skills; thorough and detail oriented; good listening skills; self-motivated and good interpersonal skills; constantly maintain a professional appearance and grooming.
Required Education: 4 - 6 years related functional experience, including supervising DOT/FMCSA regulated positions requiredProven success leading, motivating and development of multiple teams and multiple locationsAt least 3 years upper level management experience requiredCollege degree or equivalent preferred, Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferredProficiency with computers including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint requiredStrong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required
Experience Required: 2-5 years' experience in transportation, logistics and delivery. Up to date on DOT regulations.
