I'm listing a Crate V1512 tube amp. I just have too many amps and and clearing out the ones I don't use.
This one is in very nice condition. Couldn't quite pass for new, but it's probably as in as good a condition as any you'll find. Never abused. A previous owner removed the Crate logo from the front of the amp, probably in attempt to make it look more like a Fender or Marshall or whatever his goal was.
The 1512 cops sort of a Voxy/Marshally vibe. It's probably most similar to a Vox, but definitely has more gain on tap than any Vox I've ever owned.
There are basically no issues with the amp. It functions perfectly. The knob on the reverb control is a chicken head type while the others are metal, Tele-type knobs. The handle is strong, solid and secure, but the top layer isn't well attached to the bottom portion. This doesn't hamper the ability to safely carry the amp with the handle at all.
It doesn't have the stock speaker. It has a Kustom-branded speaker. This is how I received the amp. It still sounds great and is the proper size/power/impedance for the amp.
It's pretty loud and in fact, if you keep the gain down and the volume up, it stays pretty clean at higher volume levels. It doesn't have the best reverb if you are into surf or layered textural type music, but it's fine for general use and in fact, I doubt most people that seek out this type of amp are going to use a huge amount of reverb.
All the tubes have been tested at the tested at PAI Prime on the northwest side of town and all show at least 85%. Of course, you can swap tubes around to change the sound, but these tubes function just fine.
Anyway, it is what it is. It would make a great first tube amp or a great lightweight backup amp. The ones for sale on eBay are all around the $300 mark which seems pretty high to me.
I'm looking for cash only and am not interested in trades. At this point, I'm not interested in shipping the amp. I can meet at Emerson and Southport or Arlington and Edgewood. The pics are of my actual amp. Let me know if you have any questions.
