Keiko is a 2 year old female Akita. We (single mom and 19 year old son) love her very much, but we can't take her with us. She is a fantastic personal companion, and loves to go on walks twice per day. She has always been allowed indoors and outdoors, and needs to have company when her master is home, although she can be left alone for the day without any complaints. She is a very easy going dog, she just lies in the house and stays out of your way. She is playful in the morning, but calm the rest of the day. She doesn't have any bad habits (she may dig a little to make a bed). She is healthy as can be, and in her prime. She is a good dog.
Keiko is an Akita, so she does have the capacity to defend herself and her master if she feels threatened, and assumes she is the dominant dog in any situation. She loves people very much and children, but should not be left around children at all, as she may try to dominate them, also.
Someone with large breed guard dog experience is best for Keiko. Someone who knows how to be alpha, without hitting or kicking the dog (she would probably not stand for that, but is noble and will do as she is told, if told in a calm and assertive way). Someone who would like a dog to go walk, hike and run with (she could even defend against bears and cougars). Someone who wants a true companion, who is loyal and true.
We will be asking for a $200 donation to the Butte Humane Society, to show that you value Keiko, and thay you have the wherewithal to keep a dog.
