JOB SUMMARY: The Morning Baker position is responsible for maintaining customer service and consistency of product. Under the general supervision of the Head Chef and Pastry Lead, a Morning Baker will be responsible for opening the kitchen at an early hour and prepare and bake off breads, cookies, and pastries for retail in the Centrally Grown Market.


Minimum experience in similar position

Culinary courses would be an advantage but not necessary

Have or can obtain a California State food handlers card

Must have previous baking experience and basic knowledge of breads and pastries.
Must be able to identify and safely use all kitchen equipment.
Must be able to read, measure, and execute recipes in a timely manner.
Able to maintain high level of sanitation and food safety and keep clean workspace.

Cares about customer service
Basic knife skills and an appreciation for fresh and local ingredients.
Listens and follows instructions carefully
Knows the basics of food sanitation and hygiene
Capable of following basic recipes
Possess a high level of energy and projects a professional image consistent with the Centrally Grown brand, highlighting a passion for cutting edge, local, and fresh cuisine.
Ability to communicate verbally with team members and to work safely with cleaning supplies and chemicals
Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in a team environment
Regular on-time attendance
Flexibility and willingness to jump in where necessary and ability to prioritize tasks quickly
Excellent attention to detail

Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds.
Ability to use cooking tools, equipment and utilize basic knife skills
