The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Staten Island Broadway YMCA is seeking an energetic and innovative individual who will be responsible for the overall administration and management of the Y Afterschool programs. This position leads and manages both program quality and performance, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA of Greater New York, Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DOE).
Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program, by providing close supervision of all activities.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Y Afterschool program.
Maintain accurate program documentation (incident/accident/behavior reports, attendance & sign-in / sign-out sheets, and licensing requirements).
Observe and assess the individual needs of children; handle student related problems.
Refer parents to proper agencies for evaluations and remediation of children with special needs.
Assist in monitoring and updating all required staff training attendance and certifications.
Ensure that supplies and equipment are available and kept safely.
Fiscal contract management.
Assist in maintaining and managing budget, including staff expenses, purchases of supplies and trips.
Comply with DOH, DOE, YMCA's Child Care Quality Guidelines and all other agency guidelines.
Actively participate in all training sessions and designated meetings.
Minimum of three years of college/university education in a program area related to working with youth; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience working in the youth development and administration field.
Current CPR/First Aid/RTE certifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.
Excellent customer service/hospitality skills.
