Everyone had a mentor growing up. Who was yours? Join us to build the capacity of individuals to succeed by providing opportunities to learn and lead within our communities. Teaching school children about healthy nutrition habits and engaging them in physical activity benefits them for a lifetime. Help children expand their knowledge of health and fitness, explore a variety of physical activities, enrichment, and nutritional awareness. Curriculum includes health, enrichment, nutrition and fitness that address childhood obesity.
Days: Monday thru Friday Time: 1:00pm - 6:30pm (Times Vary Per Site)
The Out of School Time Leader will provide activities and assistance for groups of up to 20 elementary school students in homework, fitness, nutrition and special events/family activities by selecting a variety of age-appropriate activities at a school site. Our program helps children throughout the Sacramento region gain knowledge, expand their universe outside neighborhood boundaries, provide opportunities to grow and flourish, build and develop trust and create and fulfill dreams. With this in mind, the program promotes youth development and builds on individual student assets. Positive youth development promotes social and emotional growth and greater attachment to school which, in turn, translates into enhanced learning opportunities during the regular school day.
The Sacramento START program includes the following three components: homework and tutoring assistance, literacy, and enrichment/recreation. Our program also includes a supper and/or snack program.
Please check our website at for more information on our program, mission, vision and impact on the Sacramento community. Visit for an application.
