Family living in Lincoln Park with 7-year-old girl is seeking a professional and experienced part-time reading specialist. The position is for three days per week between 4:00pm-7:00pm at approximately 30-60 minutes per day. Tutor will work with the child at the family's home. Child attends Parker School in Lincoln Park. Family is seeking a reading specialist to improve child's reading fluency and progress monitoring. Requirements: Master's Degree in Reading, Literacy or Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis and/or endorsement in Reading or Literacy, State of Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with Reading Specialist Endorsement, minimum of 2+ years of teaching in grades Pre-K to 3rd is preferred, knowledge and experience implementing and analyzing literacy assessments, knowledge and experience successfully implementing Guided Reading and small group intervention, knowledgeable with latest research on improving reading fluency and progress monitoring, familiar with Aimsweb (www.aimsweb.com) and/or Read Naturally Program (www.readnaturally.com) and two to three references from applicable experience. Compensation is $50-60 per hour. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate.

Qualifications:

Coordinate reading instruction and assessment activities
Enjoy spending time with school aged children
Have a positive, calm and consistent rapport with children
Have a mature and respectful demeanor to help reinforce excellent manners, behavior and pleasant interaction with others
Provide a rich literacy environment in which words, reading, and language are meaningful, accessible, and fun
Have an understanding of and interest in child development
Open to communication and collaboration with parents

Requirements:

Master's Degree in Reading, Literacy or Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis and/or endorsement in Reading or Literacy
State of Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with Reading Specialist Endorsement
Minimum of 2+ years of successful teaching in grades Pre-K to 3rd is preferred
Knowledge and experience implementing and analyzing literacy assessments
Knowledge and experience successfully implementing Guided Reading and small group intervention
Knowledgeable with latest research on improving reading fluency and progress monitoring
Familiar with Aimsweb and/or Read Naturally Program
Two-three references from applicable experience

Compensation:

$50-60 per hour
