Swim instructor will provide private and semi-private swim instruction in swimming techniques, skills, and water safety to children 6 months to 12 years of age. Applicants must be able to relate well to children. Swim Instructors must also be able to exercise good judgment and safely supervise children. Previous experience as swimming instructor is also preferred.
Hours, Pay and Location
Hours are flexible, but approximate estimate is from Monday and Wednesday, from 3-7pm, Friday 2-5:30, and Saturdays, depending on number of lessons scheduled.
Pay is $20-$25/hour commensurate with experience. The pool is located near Colorado Blvd. and Mexico Ave.
Effectively teach American Red Cross swimming skills and water safety to children
Incorporate diverse and fun activities into lessons
Assess participant swimming skills for appropriate level
Works with the owner on an on-going basis to upgrade, improve and refine individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill levels
Qualifications and Certifications
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor -- highly preferred
Ability to work and relate well with children (ages 6 months -18 years old)
Proficient in all swimming strokes
Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills in lessons instruction and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, pull buoys, etc.
Strong communication and customer service skills
Dress in appropriate and well maintained attire/uniform while instructing. Instructors are required to purchase their own one-piece workout swimsuit
Maintain a positive attitude while working and work well with co-workers
Display good customer service skills with parents and recreational swimmers
Accept feedback and make necessary corrections
Display appropriate behavior (action and language) around children, parents, and staff
Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by supervisor
