Our Professional Services Team currently seeks a Contracts & Legal Services Manager to serve as first point of contact for a wide range of legal matters and provide oversight on the contract review process during bidding and contract execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees legal matters for the company, provides legal advice, counsel and services to senior management and business units.
Manages matters related to litigation and litigation avoidance, including coordination and management of outside legal counsel.
Assists in investigation of incidents which might give rise to claims and advises the company on legal liability.
Advises the company on resolving legal issues and assessing legal risks and business strategy.
Represents the company before administrative agencies, arbitration boards and at mediations.
Manages company relationship with external counsel.
Directs workflow, supervises and develops a team of legal professionals that are responsible for identifying the potential risks in contracts and drafting contract language to reduce those risks.
Advises senior management and Partners on current and proposed state and federal laws and regulations, including case law and pending legislation pertinent to the construction industry. Provide guidance and interpretations to assure compliance with applicable laws.
Assists in the development of legal department through the design and implementation of policies and procedures and manages, mentors and develops staff.
Serves as company liaison with industry group and develops and directs government relations and legislatives activities.
Reviews and approves lien waivers and compiles documents for bond claims process. Files proof of claims in bankruptcy filings of customers. Seeks judgments through Small Claims courts as needed.
Establishes and maintains a professional working relationship with business units, customers and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
We seek an energetic, dynamic and professional individual who shares in our commitment to excellence and has the following qualifications:
Ten (10) years of progressive experience in legal work.
Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in at least one state bar, strong preference for Texas licensure.
Experience in dispute resolution, litigation, and commercial transactions.
Experience in a construction related industry preferred.
Exhibits good leadership skills. Works collaboratively and thrives in a team environment.
Has excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) due to importance of far-reaching contact with customers and other Partners. Is an excellent listener and communicator.
Works with a positive attitude and always displays a professional appearance.
Shows maturity in stressful situations and demonstrates the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Maintains an excellent attention to detail and shows great accuracy in work.
Has intermediate computer skills to run a personal computer and be proficient in related company software products.
