Position: Director of Critical Care

DESCRIPTION
Hands on care, education of staff, full unit management required working knowledge of JCAHO, organizational dynamics, evidence-based practices, etc. Must demonstrate knowledge of budget management.

Performs the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients in the acute care setting.
Responsible for meeting the established standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Assists all members of the leadership team in meeting hospital wide and department specific goals.
Mentors and evaluates department staff in meeting personal accountabilities as defined in our company Target 100 Standards of Service, People, Quality, Growth and Cost.
Provides critical personal and technical expertise whenever required to meet department goals related to JCAHO compliance, adherence to DHS standards, National Patient Safety Standards, and our company Initiatives: Commitment to Quality Core Measures, evidence based practice, and other initiatives as developed.
Demonstrates effective supervisory performance evaluations, quality improvement and progressive discipline.
Has budgetary input and responsibility for operational and capital department budgets.

Requirements:
Requires current California RN license.
BSN or equivalent preferred.
Masters preparation desirable.
CCRN, ACLS and AHA-BLS-HCP required.
PALS preferred and must obtain within 6 months of hire date.
Three years acute care RN experience in area of specialty.
Must demonstrate competence in supervision or department assistant role.
Must have demonstrated experience in unit team building, transition to new environment, JCAHO/DHS standards.
Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
Management Experience Required - Yes
Minimum Education - Certification
Willingness to Travel - Occasionally
