Education Specialists Details:
The education specialist's primary concern is the improvement of learning opportunities for students attending the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation Champion's Club After School Program.
The Educational Specialist is an on-site instructional leader who works in close collaboration with the Site Director to support front-line staff (Tutors and Activity Specialists) in the delivery of skill-based curricula and thematic projects. The education specialist has the role of decision-maker, and consultant in advising the site director, teachers, tutors and activity specialists who work within the after school program. Their role is to support program instructional/enrichment goals by ensuring activities are structured, age-appropriate, align to school day instructional practices and model effective classroom management (as needed).

Essential Job Functions:
Ensure classroom instruction aligns to SASF quality standards during academic and enrichment activities
Provide oversight of curricula implementation to support school day instruction
Observes and provides feedback to activity specialists, teachers and tutors, providing advice and leading instruction when needed.
Ensure activity lesson plans and projects are age-appropriate and have clear learning goals
Assess the effectiveness and success of the curriculum and recommend changes based on student work
Coordinate the administration and implementation of academic assessments systems
Analyze academic data and student work to ensure high levels of scholar performance
Participate and co-facilitate Educational trainings at site and SASF main office
Serve as an instructional coach and mentor for front-line staff
Plans and implements staff development as it relates to instructional strategies and classroom management
*Must be knowledgeable and skilled in Education programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth.
*Must be responsible, reliable and punctual!
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
*High school diploma
*Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
Must have passion for SASF mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development.
*During the Summer Camp, hours may be either in the morning or afternoon.
*During the school year After-School hours can span from 2:50pm-6:50pm, with most programs running from 3-6pm the candidate should be able to work late afternoons and/or evenings during the school year.
*Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity highly preferred.
*Candidates who are qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity preferred as well.
*Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check
