The Blower Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital is looking for a laboratory technician to work in a group creating and analyzing high-throughput sequencing libraries. The overall goal of this project is to measure changes in mRNA polyadenylation and translation during development in the frog Xenopus laevis. Strong molecular biology skills are absolutely necessary for this position. The applicant must have experience in purification of total RNA and mRNA from cells or tissues. Skills in creating high-throughput sequencing libraries from mRNA would be viewed favorably, but are not absolutely necessary. In addition, basic biochemistry skills (recombinant protein purification and gradient centrifugation) would be valuable skills for this position. The applicant will be working within a team environment and strong interpersonal skills will be necessary. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree and one year of experience as a laboratory technician. Position and pay scale will be commensurate with experience.
