Sirius Technical Services is searching for an Application Support Engineer for Mobile, AL. The primary role of the candidate will be application troubleshooting and correction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Performs complex trouble-shooting, problem-solving and fix-management for a large number of integrated proprietary and third-party applications in occasional high-pressure, time-critical situations.
Creates and executes SQL statements, possibly involving multiple tables, to aid in trouble-shooting.
Provide and oversee daily operational activities such as application monitoring, production support, application troubleshooting and log monitoring.
Supports and/or installs proprietary and third-party software applications.
Participates in requirements gathering, business design, technical design, testing, implementation and production support of systems.
Works closely with DBAs in database design, database architecture, SQL programming, consultation and technical guidance with production databases.
Can perform the necessary duties and responsibilities in an environment that runs Microsoft Windows, Redhat Linux, MSSQL server, Oracle and MySQL databases.
Writes documentation to describe requirements, designs, testing, implementation that is professional and grammatically correct.
Recommends hardware configurations as they pertain to application performance and high availability.
Understands business concepts and the customers needs from their perspective and frequently recommends improvements to the customer's requirements.
Communicates with vendors on new and existing products that will be useful to the current multi-domain environment for hardware and software products.
Works with Tech Support to solve production issues.
Works with other Technology Team members, Product Networking and Tech Support for any application development, network plans, implementions and changes on the applications and servers.
Participates in the oncall production support rotation and may occasionally be required to do work at the office during non-business or late night hours.
Leads projects as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in Windows, Linux, SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL.
