Interfaith Community Services, was founded in 1979 by 14 diverse faith communities to address the needs of low-income, homeless, and under-served people in North San Diego County. Separately, these congregations were providing relief to people in need, but by creating Interfaith they were better able to collaborate to make a bigger impact on the needs of people in our community.
This position is responsible for providing employment readiness workshops and classes to Interfaith clients using or who are referred to employment services at the Escondido and Oceanside Offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates, coordinates and/or provides work readiness workshops and programs for clients as needed.
Assists clients with development of resumes, covers letters, applications and job search plans.
Provides and/or assists with assessments for occupational exploration for the clients and facilitates the use of employment tests.
Conducts mock interviews with clients to prepare them for the workforce and provides feedback to client and client advocates.
Creates and updates flyers and informational documents and participates in outreach efforts to publicize Employment Services programs.
Works closely with all client advocates to better understand client needs with their vocational/employment goals and creates workshops to meet these goals.
Provides monthly calendars of events and workshop volunteer schedules to supervisor.
Provides monthly statistics to the supervisor, to include documentation of client services and daily activities using ServicePoint.
Researches and provides information, announcements, and job leads to manager, staff and clients.
Performs regular scans and reviews of the computers to check for malware and viruses, update programs, free up space and document and report any needed repairs to IT staff.
Attends staff meetings and other trainings as assigned.
Provides research and writing assistance for Employment Services grant opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or related field preferred with at least one (1) year experience in a social services or nonprofit background.
Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver's license including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Company's insurance carrier standards.
Must successfully pass a criminal background and exclusion/disbarment check, as well as successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination, tuberculosis test, and drug screen.
