Position:Director of Case Management

Organization:Compass Family Services helps homeless and at-risk families achieve housing stability, family well-being and self-sufficiency. We help at-risk families to stabilize and work to rapidly re-house families that have become homeless. Our continuum of services includes intake and referral to shelter, family shelter, transitional housing, rental assistance, and childcare, as well as counseling and therapy, parenting education, prevention, and support services.

Program: Compass Connecting Point is the entry point for services for any San Francisco family facing a housing crisis. CCP manages the waiting list for the SF family shelter system and serves as a clearinghouse for eviction prevention and rental assistance. Additionally CCP is a family resource center in which each family is immediately paired with a case manager who partners with them to address the issues that precipitated their housing crisis and to identify and achieve goals related to housing stability, family well-being, and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Case Management is responsible for overseeing all aspects of case management services including but not limited to, supervision of staff, administrative and program design and implementation as well as providing direct support to clients. Specific duties include the following:

Provide direct supervision to all program staff
Responsible for implementing Case Management policies and procedures
Facilitate staff meetings, case management meetings
Provide opportunities for staff development and training
Interview, hire and terminate if necessary all program staff and interns
Be available for crisis intervention, case consultation and intervention with difficult phone calls and client situations
Conduct performance evaluations of staff
Assist with grant and contract applications as needed
Prepare statistical reports as needed
Collaborate with the Finance Department to construct annual budgets and oversee the implementation of the budget
Represent the agency to the community, outside agencies, service provider groups, committees and funders
Attend individual and group clinical meetings to implement a trauma informed approach
Maintain program schedule, attendance and vacations schedules of staff and provide or assign coverage during staff absences.
Collaborate with funders and service providers for policy and program changes.
Maintain compliance with City contracts.
Collaborate with Compass Family Services management team in the context of monthly Program Directors' meetings, Program Integration Meetings.
Coordinate team's involvement in agency-wide endeavors.

Minimum Qualifications
BA or relevant experience in social work or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience working as case manager or counselor with homeless families or at risk populations.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Experience with successful program implementation and design.
Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
Outstanding work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, team-oriented.
Excellent writing and organizational skills.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
Ability to assess and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
Ability to work effectively with culturally-diverse staff, families and communities.
Ability to work independently, while being part of a small team.
Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
