Manufacturing firm in New Bedford has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Specialist. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources Department on all personnel matters. The Human Resources Specialist is also responsible for the accurate processing of payroll through a computerized payroll and attendance system (ADP) and maintaining employee records in the payroll system. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage employee relations including day to day problem resolution, policies, procedures, compensation, benefits, etc.
Administer and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local legal requirements including, but not limited to, FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, Unemployment, EEO, ACA, ADA, etc.
Maintain all personnel documentation to ensure systematic, accurate, compliant records are maintained.
Review and edit time and attendance records for completeness and accuracy.
Accurately process bi-weekly payroll using computerized payroll system.
Update employee records to include changes to personal information, pay rates, direct deposits, deductions, liens, garnishments, etc.
Enter and maintain employee information in payroll system.
Conduct new employee orientations.
Verify and maintain I-9 documentation and process E-Verify.
Coordinate benefit enrollments, cancellations and changes.
Prepare various payroll reports for other departments as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma required.
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Payroll experience required.
Experience with ADP Payroll and Time and Attendance required.

Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws.
Ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in MS Office.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers and management.
Excellent attention to detail.
