POSITION: Simulation Technician (part-time)

LOCATION: School of Nursing -- Rural Simulation Center

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position is part time (20 hours per week) and requires ability to work with computers,
audiovisual, and internet-based software, to run human simulation mannequins and the computer-based adjuncts. The SimCenter provides services to the School of Nursing and local hospitals for training of nurses and other healthcare professionals. The person hired for this position must be experienced in working with computer and audiovisual systems, able to troubleshoot, must be able to work with other staff in a collaborative manner, and must be personable. If needed, training will be offered in working with simulators. Knowledge of healthcare terminology is preferred, but not required. Physical ability required, including moving large mannequins and hospital equipment. The Simulation Technologist will provide technical and instructional support for the day to day operations at the Rural SimCenter and is responsible for operating and maintaining sophisticated high, mid, and low fidelity simulation equipment, audio-visual equipment, photo equipment and computer equipment. This position provides high quality support by displaying sound judgment, accuracy, diplomacy, confidentiality, and discretion. This position reports to the Rural SimCenter Operations Specialist and Director. Works with faculty to facilitate simulation experiences including mannequin and classroom setup, and as a liaison to campus Information Resources (IRES) regards computer and camera operations. Prepares mannequins for simulation scenarios, including setting up simulated wounds using moulage, adding simulated body fluids, and connecting medical apparatus. Post-simulation activities include cleaning the mannequins, rooms and equipment. Assists with equipment maintenance within the Simulation Center to ensure proper working order of equipment and associated computers. Sets up for tours, trainings, and scenarios as directed by the Simulation Director. Understands simulators and the capabilities of the models, ability to trouble shoot issues related to technology. Assists with the management of files within the Simulation Center including, but not limited to: learner and facilitator evaluation results, equipment specs, etc. Ability to troubleshoot basic software and hardware computer problems, audiovisual issues and Center connectivity. Tracks hours, resources necessary, and supplies used during simulation activities. Organizes, maintains, and stocks necessary supplies for scenarios as directed. Responsible for supporting a positive work environment for all stakeholders that utilize the Simulation Center.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Desired Bachelor's degree with a preference in computer technology or health related field. Requires proficiency with PC Applications such as Microsoft Suite. Preferred 1 year experience in learning based healthcare simulation technology. Preferred proficiency in the use of audio/visual equipment (B-Line SimCapture). Preferred proficiency with Laerdal and Gaumard patient simulators, software and hardware. Preferred Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS). The Simulation Center will consider a combination of education, training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position

COMPENSATION: $18-22/hour
