We are holding a car, truck, and motorcycle show to benefit my sister who has gone through a LOT for the past 4 years.
June 2011 she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. She had nine surgeries on her forehead to remove this cancer and three of those surgeries were taken to her skull, which had to be scraped and cleaned.
January 2014 she woke to only find that she could not move her entire left side. She was rushed into the ER at York Hospital to find that she had four strokes total. She spent 5 days in the hospital and had a carotid endarterectomy to remove a 70% blockage in her right carotid artery. She was then relocated to a Rehabilitation hospital where she spent 8 days doing intensive therapy 3 times a day and even spent her 43rd birthday there!!
May 2015 she found a lump on the side of her face by her ear. A PETSCAN, ultrasound, and biopsy proved that her basal cell had spread into her parotid (saliva) gland, and her facial nerve. She under went a 7 hour surgery to remove her gland, six lymph nodes, skin, cartilage, and her jaw, cheek bones, and temporomandibular joint were all scraped and cleaned. Her facial nerve they were able to save however, it was very irritated from all the scraping and cleaning which left her about 30% paralyzed on the left side of her face. She is now going through radiation treatments at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Cancer Institute. If these treatments do not work or if the basal cell comes back, which is expected as she is only the third person to ever be diagnosed with this type of basal, she will under go chemotherapy.
She has lost her job, her home, her vehicle, and most of the costs being incurred are not covered by her insurance. I am hosting a car, truck, and motorcycle show to benefit her for medical bills and transportation costs to travel back and forth for treatments.
EVERYONE is welcomed as this will be a family event!! We are looking for older vehicles that you can enter for $10 each and that will include admission with a chance to win a trophy.
