Independence Associates is seeking a Resource Coordinator who will provide persons with disabilities a range of direct services assisting and empowering them to achieve personal goals and eliminate barriers which allow them to live independently in the communities of their choice. Independence Associates provides services in 31 communities throughout Southeastern MA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve to provide and coordinate services on behalf of consumers as assigned and with a consistent emphasis on self advocacy, individual empowerment and responsibility.

Demonstrated ability to assist consumers in the assessment of skills assets/deficits and needs for independent living and/or other services.

Assist consumers in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized
service plans designed to address consumer identified goals.

Provide skills training and/or peer counseling to consumers in individual and group settings.

Provide direct advocacy training/support on behalf of the human and civil rights of persons with disabilities.

Coordinate activities with service providers as needed with the support of the Independent Living Programs & Services Coordinator.

Document work through the use of narrative and statistical forms.

Maintain strict confidentiality and professional behavior at all times in working with consumers and colleagues.

Attend consumer review and staff meetings; other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree in Human Services or like field preferred, demonstrated professional experience will be considered.

Excellent organizational, problem solving/planning and facilitative communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with consumers, co-workers and supervisor in addition to working as a team player.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and demonstrated computer abilities.

Strong interpersonal, analytic and communication skills, ability to speak multiple languages including American Sign Language a plus.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; attention to detail

Lived or direct experience with disability highly desirable

Legally registered and insured vehicle required
