Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, caring, dynamic Service Specialist to provide services to clients living with psychiatric conditions in Boston. Working in conjunction with residential program staff, the Service Specialist contributes to, and provides leadership in facilitating program services groups relating to activities of recreation, housing, employment and education. Using a strengths based rehabilitative approach, the Service Specialist will develop, plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of services relating to activities of recreation, housing, employment and other specialized services. The Service Specialist will implement service plan interventions with persons served as well provide direct training and support for the specialized skill area the client is working on. The Service Specialist will also maintain client related documentation, advocate for clients and provide shift coverage at residential programs on an as needed basis.

This position requires knowledge of Alcohol and Drug counseling as well as other areas of mental health in order to provide services to the related population.

Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm *** rotating work locations in Dorchester, Hyde Park and Jamaica Plain


To succeed in this role you will have good time management skills, good writing skills and prior Human Services experience. A LADC or CADAC strongly preferred. A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred, but experience may substitute for education. Experience with group facilitation preferred. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a current, valid, US drivers' license for at least one year. You also must be able to successfully pass a CORI , background, reference and a driving record check. This position requires the a fully insured vehicle that you will use in the course of your daily work. All applicants must be able to become CPR and First Aid certified within 90 days of employment and MAP certified within 150 days.
