This position is responsible for machine start up, repair service, and/or provides other technical assistance at the customer's facility to ensure customer satisfaction. An equally important responsibility is to act as company representative in direct handling of complaints to the customer's satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical problems leaving the customer with the assurance that the problem has been or will be resolved.
For new injection molding machines: must be able to start up, provide molding assistance, and give hands on operator and maintenance training.
Must generate clear, concise, accurate and complete field service reports, expense reports, and timely return of those reports to the home office.
Must schedule time and make travel arrangements consistent with the department's objectives of controlling costs, and travel and living expenses.
Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Provide temporary phone coverage for technical support and/or manager while there is a vacancy due to vacation and/or illness.
High school graduate and must have a two-year technical degree in the field of electronics (or equivalent in experience).
Must know how to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic drawings. Must use all necessary hand tools and various hydraulic, mechanical and electrical test equipment.
Must possess a working knowledge of process parameters of injection molding to properly assess whether a problem is mold, materials, or machine related.
Must have strong customer interaction skills, interpersonal communication skills, and written skills. These skills are essential to ensure clear understanding and resolution of problems of a highly technical nature.
Must be fully computer literate with experience in DOS, Windows, and data acquisition and diagnostics software.
Must have seven (7) or more years of field service experience or equivalent experience in the area of troubleshooting and repair of injection molding machines.
Must possess and maintain a serviceable vehicle for transportation to and from the work site, or other location, as may be required to carry on daily business activity.
Must assure proper follow-up and quick resolution to all unresolved customer machine problems to assure complete and total customer satisfaction.
Must act as a responsible company representative in the handling of complaints with ability to defend and protect company interest without alienating or antagonizing customers in delicate situations.
Is responsible for projecting a positive image to the customer by having a positive attitude and personal appearance must be consistent with company guidelines.
Must work with customer contacts at all levels and with all internal departments.
Must work directly with external sales agencies and their representatives.
Must travel extensively to customer locations. This may require overnight stays for extended periods of time.
Must be able to assemble or disassemble mechanical components of the injection molding machine.
Must be able to analyze problems on running or down machines, sometimes in a hot or noisy environment.
Manual lifting and assembly of parts up to 100 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders up to 12 feet.
