The Helpdesk/Systems Administrator's primary role is to oversee the Montreat College Help Desk operations and to ensure that end users are receiving the appropriate assistance. This includes oversight of Help Desk requests and their resolution.

This person needs to be good with people and good at listening and understanding what a user actually needs. They also need to be good at troubleshooting issues.

I am interested in someone who takes pride in their work and will be able to keep up with a variety of different helpdesk requests that we receive from our four campuses.

This is a twelve-month position


Manage all Helpdesk operations, including management of work-study students
Fix hardware-related issues on campus computers
Maintain systems and processes related to disaster recovery and backups
Close Tier 1 Help Desk tickets
Support desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones
Recommend hardware, software, and any purchase of hardware and software
Travel to our remote campuses (Charlotte, Asheville and Black Mountain)
Other duties as assigned


Bachelor's Degree in computers or equivalent work experience


Working knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Applications
Windows 7 and Windows 8
Familiar with desktop and laptop computer hardware upgrades and repairs
Excellent communications skills
Ability to manage several projects at the same time
Familiar with computer networking
Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Good time management skills and ability to be a self-starter
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Able to write and communicate clear, precise instructions and procedures
Able to learn new technology-related skills quickly
Able to lift 50 pounds
